School PA System Upgrade

This highly reputable school in Brighton needed an upgrade to their existing PA system that both met the standards of state health and safety legislation as well as visually not impacting on the appearance of the school. As it was necessary not to impact on the architectural design of the school, the new speakers would need to be hidden in plain sight.

After careful consultation, our experts installed waterproof IP66 rate external speakers in carefully considered locations as required so that all students and staff would be able to clearly hear all announcements, bells and alerts.

We here at PC Audio Visual are experiencing the lockdown blues just like everyone else out there in Melbourne and beyond. So we wanted to give a little shoutout to our local coffee hub Mr Macleod, who are doing their best to bring a little joy to the city. On Friday the 2nd of October, they had a loud shirt day and encouraged customers to wear their most outrageous shirt. Reminding us to have a laugh and spread happiness through these trying times.

Setting up a Home Workspace

With the current Covid-19 pandemic, and the restrictions in place in Melbourne forcing many workplaces to adopt work from home practices, many of us are now looking to creating new workspaces at home.

This brings many challenges in creating a workspace that allows you to be the most productive you can be. We at PC Audio Visual want to help by providing some tips so you can create the ideal work at home space that is safe for you.
1. Use an adjustable chair that supports your lower back curve
2. Your screen should be at eve level so you are not slouching
3. Your screen should be an arms-length away
4. Your keyboard and mouse should be directly in front of you and positioned at least 10 to 15 cms away from the edge of the desk to allow for support of your forearms
5. Your keyboard should be positioned parallel to your mouse to keep your arms close to your body to prevent neck and shoulder strain
6. There should be adequate lighting and position your screen sideways to windows to avoid eye strength
7. Ensure power points are not overloaded
8. If using a laptop, consider using a stand that raises the screen to prevent strain on your neck and avoid slouching
9. Ensure cables around your workplace are kept tidy to prevent any possible tripping hazards
10. Your screen should be positioned directly in front of you, or position yourself in-between if using multiple screens.

Large Scale Projector Installation

With this large scale installation, special care was taken by the team to ensure there was a flawless installation process. To provide ease of access while also minimising the impact of the space, a motorised 140” screen that can be accessed with the touch of a button was installed. With the RS232 AV Controller, users can easily access the screen, control the projector, adjust inputs, and volume with the single unit. Additional speakers were also included in this installation to allow for audio visual presentations to occur at the site.

Lilydale Lecture Theatre Upgrade

Location: Lilydale, Melbourne, Victoria

Utilising existing infrastructure to reduce costs for the client, an automated system was installed, including an Epson EB-2250U projector and AV controller. The automated system allows for simplified use of equipment, with singular remote control of the projector and pre-existing screen and audio components.

The automated system makes the system easy to use for anyone so there is less time trying to find the right remote and more time for delivering lecture material.

Footscray Reception Screen Installation

Footscray Reception Screen Installation

Location: Footscray, Melbourne, Victoria

With two large 85” screens installed in this local business’ reception, an additional HDMI matrix switcher was also installed allowing staff to post messages to the new reception screens. The switcher allows for individual and dual messages to be displayed. New data cabling was also installed to strengthen the signal between the two new screens as well.

With the new screens and switcher installed, staff will be able to display messages in the reception area from any computer in the office.

With a large number of cables throughout this Geelong site presenting a number of issues, the client required the installation of an easy to manage cable system that minimizes OH&S issues. By inserting fixed mounts for the components and nylon cable sleeves, this can reduce the confusion and any possible tripping hazards.

It is important for every workplace, that cables are maintained and organized, to ensure there is a safe workplace. Cables that are not kept tidy and maintained properly exposes the workplace to OH&S issues as well as possible dangers from damaged cables as well.

Solution

With the recent refurbishment of this primary school in Preston, new AV equipment needed to be installed to bring the school into the 21st century. 65” screens were installed into wall brackets that allow more the screen to be moved according to the configuration of the class. Wireless receivers were also installed to enable both teachers and students to share content to the screens.

With these new features in the classroom, teachers and students alike are able to share and collaborate on work together, with the equipment being flexible to suit all classroom needs.
